The Grants Compliance Auditor will manage a quality assurance program within Sponsored Programs Administration (SPA) that will ensure compliance with the Federal Government’s Uniform Guidance (Grant Management Regulations) and private sponsor requirements. This position will ensure the highest level of financial compliance and integrity in the administration of the University’s portfolio of grants and contracts supporting its research mission. The position will manage in-depth review of SPA Washington Square, Abu Dhabi and Shanghai active grant / contract funded projects and partner with key stakeholders in the development of remediation efforts.
Required Education: Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance, or related field.
Preferred Education: Master’s in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, Engineering, or other related field.
Required Experience: At least three years of relevant grant and research compliance auditing experience. Prior experience of auditing Federally funded sponsored programs, and/or Single Audit is required.
Preferred Experience: Prior experience working with not-for-profit or higher education organizations is preferred.
Required Skills, Knowledge and Abilities: Excellent accounting and auditing skills. Knowledge of Uniform Guidance regulatory requirements and grants administration and Federal, State and City regulations governing conduct of sponsored programs. Excellent verbal, written, analytical skills, ability to work with complex details and understand and interpret complex contractual agreements work with highly sensitive and confidential data and work with complex computer systems. The ability to work both independently and within teams in a highly demanding, fast-paced, demanding environment. Possess critical thinking skills to apply to innovative audits.
Preferred Skills, Knowledge and Abilities: CPA preferred.
