We are looking for a Senior Accountant with focus in SEC Reporting to join our growing accountant team. You will have experience in accounting as well as history working with multiple priorities in a dynamic, rapidly growing and fluid organization. You are highly analytical, organized and skilled at crafting structures and definition in situations that are uncertain or ambiguous. You can adapt quickly to change and will champion the advancement of policies, structure, procedures, and controls that will improve the finance function at Etsy.
This position is located in our DUMBO Brooklyn, NY office.
About the Role
On a quarterly basis, assist in preparation of all comparative consolidated financial statements included in our SEC filings (including Form 10-Q and 10-K integrated reporting), including cash flow and stockholders’ equity, with attention to detail in relation to internal consistency and prior period continuity as well as management of XBRL.
You will prepare quarterly income statement and balance sheet analytics, comparing and documenting significant fluctuations between reporting periods
Prepare all required financial statement disclosures and review the disclosure checklist to ensure completeness, identifying new or updated disclosures that may impact the company.
Work closely with the general accounting team and FP&A to ensure appropriate classification of income statement and balance sheet transactions for proper financial statement presentation on an ongoing basis.
Partner across departments in the preparation of quarterly and annual financial statements, including the accounting, tax, investor relations, FP&A, analytics, sustainability and legal teams,
Stay informed on Regulation S-X and S-K requirements and apply to financial statement presentation and supporting footnote disclosures within quarterly and annual SEC filings.
Maintain, format, and roll-forward SEC filings within our cloud-based SEC reporting platform.
Review any 8-Ks, Proxy and other published content containing financial data (including the Press Release and investor presentations) for consistency amongst all methods of reporting and accuracy with the consolidated financial statements underlying support.
Assist with special projects as requested by management, including technical accounting research and implementation of new accounting standards.
Support the audit team by providing documents related to the quarterly financial reporting process.
You have 3-6 years of experience, with at least two years as an auditor for a global SEC-filer at a big four accounting firm
You have current understanding of US GAAP and SEC reporting rules and regulations, including ability to perform technical accounting research. Experience in XBRL management and tagging
Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting (MBA/MSA a plus). CPA certification, or progressing toward CPA certification is highly desired.
High energy level with a hands-on approach combined with the ability to prioritize and work well in a dynamic environment with competing demands.
Ability to think critically and recognize discrepancies and anomalies through analysis.
Ability to work independently, follow tasks through to completion and meet commitments, proactively seeking guidance as necessary.
Ability to collaborate and clearly communicate across teams both within and outside of finance.
Strong organizational and time-management skills, with excellent attention to detail.
Experience working with foreign entities and foreign exchange preferred.
Proficient knowledge of Microsoft Excel required; Workday and Workiva knowledge is a plus.
