Advertised Summary Job Description: Reporting to the Senior Director of Finance for ColumbiaDoctors, the Director of Accounting will be involved in the oversight and management of accounting activities for the Faculty Practice Organization (FPO). The Director will be responsible for the financial reporting of FPO; total budgeted revenues in excess of $797 million.
This position is a hands on management position that is a member of a larger finance team in a fast growing and changing environment. The position is expected to provide strong accounting, leadership, problem solving skills. This position requires a person interested in professional growth who is looking to explore and solve the challenges of a large academic medical center.
General Minimum Qualifications: Requires a bachelor's degree or equivalent in education and experience, plus seven years of related experience.
Additional Specific Minimum Qualifications: - Bachelor's degree in Accounting is required. - Minimum 7 years of progressive healthcare accounting experience, preferably with some exposure to an academic physician organization. - Ability to interact with senior management & communicate effectively with clinical department administration. - Demonstrated ability to mentor team members. - Demonstrated skills in problem assessment and resolution. - Strong customer service skills, demonstrating persuasion and diplomacy skills. - Excellent analytical and problem solving skills. - Customer service focus, knowledge of Patient Financial Accounting and Management systems. - Strong working knowledge of accounting systems, PeopleSoft, etc. required. - Excellent computer skills particularly Excel and database management. - Must be a motivated individual with a positive and exceptional work ethic. - Excellent oral/written communication skills and an ability to synthesize complex issues into presentations to senior management. - Ability to work in a fast paced, changing environment, take initiative and be flexible - Strong time management skills, with an ability to perform/ manage multiple tasks simultaneously and set priorities. - Demonstrated ability to manage up and across the organizational structure.
Preferred Qualifications: - MBA and or CPA preferred. - Knowledge of Patient Accounts Receivable and or Revenue Cycle preferred.
