Dealertrack, a Cox Automotive Brand, is currently looking for a Senior Accountant to join our team in North Hills, NY.
The Senior Accountant will support various aspects of the Retail Solutions Corporate accounting cycle, which includes, but is not limited to:
Ensure the integrity of financial information in compliance with generally accepted accounting procedures (GAAP) and company policy.
Prepares and records asset, liability, revenue, and expenses entries by compiling and analyzing account information.
Maintains and balances subsidiary accounts by verifying, allocating, posting, reconciling transactions; resolving discrepancies.
Ensure the timely and accurate completion of the month-end close, including balance sheet reconciliations and roll forwards, internal reporting and analysis of the Balance Sheet and P&L (variance analysis), corporate reporting requirements, etc.
Ensure adequate controls are in place, and monitor the effectiveness of such controls, to maintain an internal control structure that enables accurate accounting and reporting of all financial transactions.
Monitor various business and operating metrics to aide in daily operational decisions.
This role requires in-depth knowledge of GAAP and general accounting operations, combined with exquisite critical thinking and analytical skills. Additionally, this role requires a strong work ethic, organizational skills, attention to detail, effective problem-solving skills and dynamic decision-making abilities. Working effectively with others is of significant importance.
Review financial information used to prepare general ledger journal entries and document business transactions.
Partner with shared-service teams and other departments for financial statement reviews. Facilitate information requests with operating teams.
Interprets the meaning of financial information obtained and makes accounting adjustments accordingly through preparation of journal entries (areas expected to include – but not limited to - marketing expenses, sales commissions, fixed assets).
Review balance sheet reconciliations, roll forwards, internal financial statements, and financial information provided to the business, corporate tax team, external auditors, corporate accounting, finance, etc.
Ensure timely and accurate analysis of monthly financial results; communicate and collaborate cross-functionally.
Streamline the monthly closing process by identifying areas for improvement, and develop and implement process/system improvements. Eliminate non-value add/non-essential tasks. Increase efficiency.
Oversee special projects as assigned and other research/support/data requests tasks.
What We Look For:
Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting strong preferred. In lieu of a degree, education and work experience will be considered.
3-5 years of experience required.
Knowledgeable of GAAP, accounting operations, finance and financial statements.
Strong verbal and written communication skills.
Excellent time management, decision-making, problem solving, presentation, and organizational skills.
High level of skill in financial spreadsheet and accounting software. Oracle and Hyperion experience preferred. In-depth knowledge of MS Office suite of products (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
